You can take Alison Hammond to the wealthiest places on Earth and she will still be Alison Hammond – and that’s why we love her.

For the first episode of In At The Rich End, the This Morning presenter travelled to the French Riviera to visit multi-millionaires and explore their extremely lavish homes.

On a mission to see if a life of obscene luxury was right for her, and if money can truly make you happy, the Birmingham star took in the stunning sights and dined in some of the most expensive restaurants.

She also explored mansions costing over $135,000 for a week’s rent and which boast artwork worth a staggering $30million.

One segment saw Alison do lunch with Lady Monika Bacardi, a film producer and heiress to the Bacardi drinks fortune worth an eye-watering $5.5billion

Yes, thanks to her late husband, whose great grandfather founded Bacardi, Lady Monika is one of Monaco’s 200 billionaires – but she got on with Alison like a house on fire.

And while the whole interaction was very surreal, the most hilarious moment came when Alison quizzed Lady Monika on her favourite shops.

‘Monika, if I said tomorrow, when you wake up, all your wealth is gonna be gone, how do you think you’d cope, would you be ok?’, Alison began.

‘The thing is, in a blink, everything can change. So, let’s just have happy moments,’ she smiled.

‘Have you ever been in like, a B&M or a Poundland?’, Alison then asked.

To no one’s surprise, no, the billionaire heiress did not know what B&M is.

Schooling the wealthy star, Alison explained: ‘It’s like, a really cheap shop, where you can get vases like this, candles…’, as she pointed to various decorations in the restaurant.

Lady Monika responded: ‘No, but I have been. Maybe not the same name, but in some cheap stores. I even go now.’

Alison was then thrilled to learn that Lady Monika is ‘just like her’ and ‘loves a bargain.’

‘Absolutely! Love it,’ the heiress exclaimed.

Of course, the interaction didn’t go unnoticed by Twitter users, who were left in stitches over Alison’s comments.

‘This is why I love @AlisonHammond asking a woman worth $5.5bn if she’s ever been to B&M or Poundland’, one tweeted.

‘“Have you ever been in B&M or Poundland” Alison Hammond is my girl’, laughed another.

‘@AlisonHammond has to be the funniest person on tv’, wrote one – and yes, we agree.

Everyone was totally obsessed with watching Alison living her best rich life as she drove around in a $100,000 car before tripping up on the red carpet at her first Cannes Film Festival.

One praised her as a ‘national treasure’, while another viewer tweeted: ‘You’re the perfect person to present a show like this.’
