Galaxy signs free agents Kelvin Leerdam, Raheem Edwards – Daily Bulletin

The Galaxy has had a quiet offseason so far but finally made some additions, signing free-agent defender Kelvin Leerdam and midfielder Raheem Edwards

Leerdam, 31, joins the Galaxy on a two-year contract through the 2023 season, with an option for 2024.

Edwards, 26, spent last season with LAFC and joins the Galaxy on a three-year contract through 2024 with an option for 2025.

Leerdam spent last season with Inter Miami CF, where he played in 29 games (1,701 minutes).

Before joining Inter Miami, he was with the Seattle Sounders from 2017-2020.

In 2019, he made 29 appearances (2,393 minutes) while helping the Sounders to the MLS Cup.

“He’s an experienced, championship-winning player and we are pleased to bring him to our club,” Galaxy coach Greg Vanney said. “His quality provides more depth and versatility to our roster and we look forward to him playing an important role in the team.”

Leerdam began his professional career in 2008 with Dutch club Feyenoord. In 2013, he moved to Vitesse before coming to the U.S and Major League Soccer.

Over his career, he’s shown quality joining the attack from his outside fullback position.

Edwards made 27 appearances (1,369 minutes) last season with LAFC. He has also had career stops with Toronto FC, Chicago (twice), CF Montreal and Minnesota United.
