Callan Sinclair respectful to woman, aunt tells court

A rugby league player accused of rape alongside Dragons star Jack de Belin has been described by a family member in court as being respectful to women.

Shellharbour Sharks player Callan Sinclair, 23, and Mr de Belin, 29, have both pleaded not guilty to multiple charges of aggravated sexual assault against a 19-year-old woman in a Wollongong unit in the early hours of December 9, 2018, after partying with her at a nearby club.

Both men say the sexual encounter with the woman was consensual.

Closing the evidence in the trial that has gone on for three weeks, Mr Sinclair’s aunt Lesa Rowlands said she and her nephew shared a close relationship and described him as cautious by nature and the quietest of his siblings.
