Modi’s BJP on track for state election landslide in India’s Gujarat

NEW DELHI — India’s ruling Bharatiya Janata Party on Thursday was headed for a landslide victory in an assembly election in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s home state of Gujarat, according to vote figures that were still being released.

Victory would allow the BJP to form a government in the western state for a seventh straight term, providing the party a major boost ahead of the next national election in 2024.
