Suntory, Coke aim to stem Southeast Asia’s tide of plastic waste

TOKYO/BANGKOK — More drink makers and chemicals companies are embarking on recycling projects in Southeast Asia, where economic growth has driven a surge in plastic waste in the form of bottles, bags and food wrappers.

A number of companies see the field as a business opportunity, particularly with the increased focus on environmental, social and governance issues in recent years.
