A San Diego man was arrested in Oregon Wednesday in connection with the fatal shooting of a 55-year-old man in East Village last month, police said.
Edward Childs, 34, was arrested on suspicion of murder in the killing of Charles Jordan, who was found Nov. 5 after a 911 caller reported a man lying in the middle of the road on K Street near 16th Street about 5:35 a.m.
Jordan had suffered a gunshot wound to his head and died before he could be taken to a hospital, police Lt. Steve Shebloski said.
Homicide detectives said they identified Childs as the suspect in the shooting after checking the area for surveillance video and speaking with possible witnesses.
They learned Childs had fled San Diego. Detectives obtained an arrest warrant, police said.
Childs was arrested by law enforcement in Hermiston, Oregon. He awaits extradition, police said.
