How does the show work?

The show sees contestants sign up before a small number of players are secretly selected by Claudia to be The Traitors. The rest of the players are known as ‘The Faithful’ and none of The Faithful know who The Traitors are.

Players are then eliminated when The Traitors meet in secret and decide to ‘murder’ one of The Faithful. The next morning, when the group meet for breakfast, the ‘murdered’ player does not appear.

Later in the day, all the players then have to meet at the ‘Round Table’ and ‘banish’ the player they suspect of being a Traitor.

The person they choose then reveals if they are a Traitor or a Faithful before being eliminated from the show.

At the end of the game, the few remaining players share the prize pot if they are all Faithful, but if there is still a Traitor among them, the Traitor takes all the prize money.

There are two Traitors left – Wilf Webster and Keiran Tompsett – who must convince the Faithfuls that they are innocent and one of them.

And after playing a very clever and often dastardly game – which saw him plot against fellow Traitor Amanda Lovett resulting in her shock banishment – Wilf is determined to come out on top.

While three Faithfuls remain – Hannah Byczkowski, Aaron Evans and Meryl Williams – with the trio having to work hard as a group to identify the murderers.

Speaking about his shock at reaching the final undiscovered, Will said: ‘It’s very surreal, I didn’t think I’d get this far at one pointWhen all the fingers were pointing at me, I never thought I’d make it this far’

However he admitted the taking on the role hasn’t been easy and it’s ‘backstabbing’ his new friends had been a ‘struggle’.

‘I really didn’t think it would be as hard as it was to murder people, or watch people get banished knowing that you’re the one that should be banished’.

Faithful: Hannah, 32, who has never questioned pal Wilf’s loyalty, revealed she had ‘no idea’ how she made it to the final and was convinced she’d last ‘about five minutes’

‘I think you spend so much time second guessing and game planning, trying to get a game plan together and then that all goes out the window and you’re just happy to be there another day!’

Faithful Aaron has found fingers constantly pointed at him by other players and accused daily of being a traitor.

When asked if he thought he would make it to the final he exclaimed: ‘No way! Are you joking?’

Faithful: Meryl – who has also been wrongly accused of being a traitor said making it to the final was a real ‘pinch me’ moment

‘No, I did not think I’d make it through to the final five. I thought I’d go out after day three and that’s before I even knew what would happen in day three’.

Meryl – who has also been wrongly accused of being a traitor – said making it to the final was a real ‘pinch me’ moment.

‘I never expected it in a million years. When I first went onto the show I just wanted to try and get through. I kept just thinking one more day, one more day. I never ever thought I was going to get this far, for sure. It feels surreal’.

Traitor: Kieran found himself dramatically booted from the show in episode one, before later retuning as a faithful before joining the traitor ranks alongside Wilf

Recalling the early exit he said: ‘And I was getting prepared to get stick left, right and centre for it!’

‘It was the most brutal twist in a game show ever and it set the tone of the show to perfection – it got everyone hooked from the first episode. But being on the end of it was hard’.

What happens in the final?

Wednesday night’s penultimate episode saw Claudia unveil a shock, game-changing twist ahead of the final.

As the contestants celebrated making it to the last five following the banishment of actress Maddy, the presenter interrupted their champagne-filled festivities to announce that no one would be murdered that night, before adding a further revelation.

Not over yet: Wednesday night’s penultimate episode saw Claudia unveil a shock, game-changing twist ahead of the final

She told them: ‘Tomorrow, you are going to face the mission to end all missions. Not only that, your evening has the highest stakes yet.’

She went on: ‘There will be a roundtable tomorrow and after that, you will decide when the game ends.

‘When you are confident that there are no remaining traitors, you just tell me and the game ends.

This means that the pressure will truly be on for the contestants as they have to be 100% sure that no Traitors remain in their midst in order to win the money.

While the Faithfuls will work hard to uncover the truth, the Traitors will have to work harder to conceal their deceit and ensure they remain under cover till the every end.

Speaking about hosting the series, Claudia recently admitted she had to do something that she felt ‘very uncomfortable with’ as she spoke about having to be ‘mean’ in her role.

Speaking on The Graham Norton Show, Claudia cryptically said: ‘I am not always mean but I did have to do something at the beginning that I felt very uncomfortable with.

‘I loved them all but I knew too much about everyone so had to stay separate from them all.’

Claudia went on to admit that she originally turned down the opportunity to host the reality game show, before changing her mind when she watched the original Dutch version.

She said: ‘I initially said no but then watched the Dutch version and I wept. I loved it so much and said, ‘Please let me do it.’ I was so lucky to do it.’
