Christmas is so close we can almost taste the turkey – and it’s likely most of us will be celebrating with a glass of fizz or two.
Of course, numerous bottles of champagne and prosecco – especially when hosting a large party of guests – can really add up.
And with the current cost of living crisis, it’s not-so-friendly on the old bank account.
Thankfully, wine expert Lucy Hitchcock has come to our rescue, just in time for Christmas, by sharing an Aldi ‘dupe’ for Laurent-Perrier champagne – which usually retails at £42 per bottle.
Lucy is behind the TikTok account @partnerinwine – which is not only the place to go for recommendations, but is also a great spot to find cheaper versions of popular drinks.
She explains that Aldi’s £8.99 bottle of Cremant-du-jura is very similar to Laurent-Perrier – but is around £33 cheaper.
In her TikTok, Lucy says: ‘I think I’ve just found an Aldi dupe for Laurent-Perrier. This is just as delicious.
‘This Cremant-du-jura is made in the exact same way as champagne, in the traditional method, giving it those notes of brioche and toast.’
Lucy also explains the Aldi fizz is also made from 100% chardonnay grapes, so gives a similar fresh and citrus flavour.
She adds: ‘This is why it’s the ideal dupe for chardonnay dominant champagnes like Laurent-Perrier.’
While we know that it’s not an exact dupe – as Cremant is not champagne – we welcome any tips for saving money this Christmas.
